We were lucky enough to have been invited to Aladd We were lucky enough to have been invited to Aladdin at Hackney Empire last night. What a great start to the festive season. We all loved it, it’s such a great show, we highly recommend you go and see it if you can. ⁣
⁣
Sharing loads more details on our blog post, so pop over to there for a nosey if you want to hear how great our evening was. But some key details are below. ⁣
⁣
𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 - Running until December 31st ⁣
⁣
𝗧𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀 - prices range from £10 - £45 concessions are available⁣
⁣
Tickets can be purchased online or from the box office https://www.hackneyempire.co.uk⁣
⁣
𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 - We found the theatre to be very accessible and ‘friendly’ for us. There is also step free access to all stalls seating. ⁣
⁣
𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 & 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 - Everyone we spoke to at the venue was super friendly and helpful. One of the lovely bar staff even paid for our drinks on her own card as I had not realised it was a card only venue and for once only had cash on me. Talk about above and beyond service I was so grateful and touched.⁣
⁣
⁣
Please note our videos and reviews are raw and real, are unprompted and the children can say what they like. Obviously I do edit slightly to make them work but I want them to be real and not perfect and pretty just to fit in with society. ⁣

After the initial excitement of leaving & take off and the novelty of looking out the window wore off, I suspect the anxiety & overwhelm kicked in. A small space was a safe space and that felt best at the time, and it totally makes sense. ⁣
⁣
Best I could do for him was to fully support, not judge or criticise and to let him just be him. He got up when he was ready and had a hug. Then busied himself on his iPad until we landed. ⁣

It was a pretty bumpy flight, it’s been super windy, so I did lots of blagging that it’s totally normal, every time it was a bit wobbly! Super proud of how Grayson was, what a star. ⁣

Lucky old me with this cracker of a view for sever Lucky old me with this cracker of a view for several hours this morning! ⁣
⁣
Local mamas will recognise it as the car park across the road from school, other SEN mamas will no doubt have their own beaut of a view that they regularly get stuck admiring! ⁣
⁣
The joys of school refusal hey! So today, we sat it out! The usual refusal suspect actually managed to go in eventually, leaving me with the eldest and strongest to try and wrestle in. I did not have the energy so my tactic today was boredom! There we sat, and there we sat and there we sat some more. ⁣
⁣
All the result of a meds change. It’s not me being a mean mama forcing him in. I’m not that mum! ⁣
⁣
There have been times when we have actually spent a few hours here after school when one has refused to get in the car! I mean I understand not wanting to get out to go to school, but refusing to leave was a little insane! But there is no telling what’s going to happen in this SEN parenting world js there! Hence why I try to never leave the house without a phone charger and a cup of tea! May as well sit it out with something to do. ⁣

So I just found out that today is International Su So I just found out that today is International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day, and only last week I found out that someone I’ve know for years, who was once a good friend, and who I’d lost contact with over recent years, sadly took his own life about a month ago. Leaving behind his children, his family and friends. It breaks my heart to think someone is in that much turmoil that suicide is their best option in their mind at that time. ⁣
⁣
Today is meant to be a day to remember and support those who have lost loved ones to suicide. It’s a time to show support and compassion for all the brave and grief stricken parents, partners, children, friends and loved ones navigating the journey of healing. There are way too many of us out there. This international day aims to bring together survivors of suicide loss, provide resources for coping with grief, and reduce the stigma surrounding suicide and mental health.⁣ Its great to have a day to create awareness but this needs to be ongoing and not just for a day. Kinda awkward that I am posting this with only an hour and a half of the day left! But better to share than to not I think.
⁣
I’ve not just lost friends to suicide - sadly three of them now, I have also lost a family member too, it’s way too real. If you need someone to talk to, please message or call. Remember, you are never alone. ⁣
Calling all friends / followers in & local to Hert Calling all friends / followers in & local to Hertfordshire - I need your help! ⁣
⁣
With the festive season about to go into full swing. The lights are being turned on, the trees are going up slowly, gifts are being bought. It’s that time I start asking for some help! Rubbish at asking for help for myself but have no shame in asking for help for others ⁣
⁣
Every year I make up gift bags / boxes for families in need with the help of lots of you. Traditionally this has been making reverse advent boxes - meaning for the 24 days of advent you pop a gift or festive food item or festive treats in a box and by the end of advent it’s a lovely gift for a local family in need at Christmas . Although we start this usually the last week of November and end by December 17th to avoid me having to dash about delivering these gifts on Christmas Eve with my poor kids crammed in a car full of boxes!! ⁣
⁣
I have two options this year. I have families in need of general festive help with food etc and who would gratefully receive a lovely box of goodies. This list grows every year. ⁣
⁣
I also have the details of some specific vulnerable families who I’d love to be able to help have some festive cheer and gifts this year with your help. For these families I can provide you with some details as to whom you are buying for - for example a family with mum, baby girl (6months) and a little boy ( 3 years) that kind of thing. ⁣
⁣
I know life is expensive right now, so if you are not able to help with a full box, but might be able to buddy up with some friends or some school mums - one item per child in a class would be amazing, or if you are able or want to donate a smaller gift to be added to a box I would be eternally grateful. ⁣
⁣
If you can help me help other local people this Christmas I’d be so grateful. Whether with a general advent box or treats for a specific family, or a simple item or two it really all makes a huge difference. Please pop me a message or leave a comment below and I’ll be in touch. ⁣

It’s not often that I talk about how tough thing It’s not often that I talk about how tough things are. I think we are all so conditioned to the ‘instagram perfect’ life that we must be sharing. But I do like to keep it real and I am also learning, slowly, that it’s ok to ask for help. I also think that having masked my adhd for 44 years before my diagnosis I have got so used to ‘trying to fit in’ and ‘saying what I think should be said’ that I’m even more rubbish at this ‘real life ‘ malarkey. ⁣
